About XCEL General Contracting
30 Years of Grit. Built for What’s Coming.
Utah-based. Founded in 2014 by Jim Redmond and Bryan Wilmot — and now growing into one of Utah’s most capable commercial general contractors.
Our Story
Built on Service. Grown on Results.
XCEL General Contracting was founded in 2014 in Bountiful, Utah by Jim Redmond and Bryan Wilmot — two veterans of the construction industry with decades of combined experience in general contracting, hazardous material abatement, and government projects.
Over the past decade, XCEL has built a deep track record serving the University of Utah, State of Utah DFCM, Utah Division of Purchasing, Utah National Guard, UDOT, and the US General Services Administration under an IDIQ contract. More than 1,000 projects completed for public agencies in the last five years alone.
In 2026, XCEL brought on two new principals — Senior Project Manager Jerry Price and Senior Estimator Bob Gedeborg — to scale the company’s commercial GC capacity toward the $100M+ revenue tier. With a $15M+ single-project bond capacity, a self-perform crew, and an owned equipment fleet, XCEL is positioned to compete for Utah’s most demanding projects.
